The Federal and Provincial governments, along with the Township of Minden Hills are partnering through the Community, Culture & Recreation stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program to support the rehabilitation of four Minden Hills Community Facilities with accessibility improvements, by providing a combined $897,000 to the initiative.
Project work to improve accessibility in the four facilities includes:
- Minden Library and Minden Hills Cultural Centre – upgrades to the existing retaining walls, stairs, ramps, sidewalk and platforms, and the replacement of guardrails and handrails;
- Lochlin and Irondale Community Centres – replacement of the existing ramps and installation of automatic door operators;
- Minden Curling Club – accessibility improvements to the entrance of the building.
The Federal investment for the project is $358,800, in addition to Provincial funding of $298,970, and a Municipal contribution of $239,230. The accessibility improvements are expected to take place over 2022 and 2023.
